Silicone gel is efficacious, both in the prevention and treatment of abnormal scars1,2,3

In recent years, numerous clinical papers have been published which highlight the importance of preventative scar management and the different types of treatment options available.

According to the 2002 International Clinical Recommendations on Scar Management4, silicone should be the first line of treatment in the initial management of all scars and particularly in the prevention of keloids and hypertrophic scars.
